I'm a sucker for Kindle Unlimited. I joined months ago, even as my daughter tried to shame me for yet another subscription fee on my checking account. But I banned her from the house and now all is good.

The Devil's Thief, by Lisa Maxwell is the 2nd book in The Last Magician trilogy, a fantasy set in early 1900's New York City and involves the conflicts and adventure between the Mageus (magical folk) and the Sundren (normal folk). So far, so good.
The Devil's Thief is traditionally published by an imprint of Simon & Schuster, and is a bit on the stout size, seven hundred and four pages, larger than I typically get into.
It's a fun read and I'm appreciating the detail Maxwell has put into her early 20th century world. The verdict is still out, however, on whether book 3 will make it into the lineup. I think I'll need a bit more of something to keep my interest, but then, I've got a pretty extensive backlist I need to read.
The verdict: If you like being transported back in time and are enthralled by magical abilities, then you will enjoy the first 2 books of The Last Magician series, by Lisa Maxwell.
